People are becoming increasingly more knowledgeable about the need to look after their own health. As an employer it is vitally important in this day and age, where people are willing to commute and seek out another employer to gain personal benefits, that you are seen to look after your employees. This will bring with it commitment, loyalty and reliability. This increases their production whilst at work and aids motivation throughout the workforce. Lifestyle modifications and workplace health will improve the physical, mental and social well-being of individuals and in turn, firstly, allow people to actually be in work and secondly, whilst they are there be fully switched on and motivated. There are numerous studies showing the benefits of creating a healthy workforce. Poor health, both physical and mental, can be very costly to organisations through the impact on illness, absence, productivity, attraction, retention, industrial accidents and work cover claims.
